silverlight_blackberry

Sounds like RIM’s trying to do more than just bring the woeful BlackBerry browser up to par with the competition – Boy Genius Report says Waterloo’s trying to leap way out in front by building in full Flash and Silverlight support. BGR says it’ll be full Flash, not Flash Lite or the Open Screen Project’s mobile Flash 10 implementation, but don’t get too excited: it’ll be next summer before RIM ships devices fast enough to handle it, and even then things

The cheapest BlackBerry Pearl 8110 to date available in Australia

Posted by admin On August - 19 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

8110blue

Crazy John’s in Australia is offering the BlackBerry Pearl 8110 for free, with a $39 BlackBerry Service Cap. As with most plans, the headlines don’t tell the whole story.

The plan requires that you sign up for 2 years at a $40 per month, and with that you get unlimited email and internet. Be warned though, that calls are charged at 47 cents per 30 seconds, with a 35 cent initial charge.

While the calls are expensive, this truly is the best BlackBerry bundle deal we have seen to date. To get a BlackBerry Pearl 81XX from Wal-Mart, you need to sign on to a service plan of $99.99 per month or higher and in conjunction with any feature or bundle or any other plan option at least $24.99 per month or greater.

BlackBerry App World Now Available Through Your Browser

You can now get BlackBerry’s application storefront through a webportal. It lets you browse applications on your computer and then email yourself the link to purchase or download the app on your phone.

Definitely a nice shopping alternative to having to browse on your Berry, but I kinda wish you could purchase through the site and then sideload.

Leaked pics of the BlackBerry Storm 2 9520 aka Odin

blackberrystorm2_feat

The BlackBerry Ninja over at Benezblog has posted leaked photos of the BlackBerry Storm 2 9520 aka The BlackBerry Odin.

So far, the device is rumored to have:

  • OS 5.0.0.138 and it’s running platform 4.3.0.28.
  • WiFi – awesome!
  • SurePress has been replaced by a new touchscreen technology that is apparently much better.
  • 3.2MP camera
  • 360×480 capacitive touchscreen display
  • UMTS/HSDPA (2100MHz)
  • Quad-band GSM and CDMA 1xRTT/EVDO Rev. A

This is beginning to look like a great device but it’s too early to say much about it. While the Storm 1 got a lot of bad press on the Internet, it was one of the least returned devices from Verizon. BlackBerry users want a good touchscreen device and this could be the king of touchscreen devices.

UberTwitter Kills Off Advertisments For Now – Were They Really That Bad?

ubertwitter_ads

The new UberTwitter beta went out yesterday and as I sat back watching my Twitter account I could clearly see many, many people were not happy with the integrated advertisements UberTwitter now has. It became much more of a topic when Mashable posted an article about the new ads where you can clearly see some users were not happy at all. Personally, the ads did not bother me and I typically use SocialScope anyways, but at this time, feeling the pressure UberTwitter has disabled ads.

Elecite Releases Premium Theme Analog

analog-elecite-blackberry-theme

Elecite launched their latest theme for the BlackBerry Storm, 8900 and Bold devices yesterday. Called Analog, it features a sliding icon dock set to a 45 degree angle which can hold 8 customizable icons. Two things that really stand out of about this theme is the custom battery and signal level areas – they are large and really made to be part of the theme as opposed to something that is a small portion of it. Analog is available from Elecite for $6.99.

A friend let me know that Verizon will be firing up a new Buy One Get One Free offer. The promo, which kicks off today, will let you snag any BlackBerry device (Tour, Storm, Pearl Flip, Curve or WE) free when you buy one. The fun doesn’t stop there – you can also snag a netbook or other mobile broadband device (equal or lesser value) as part of the deal. I ran through the checkout on Verizon’s site, and sure
