Amazon is today adding BlackBerrys to its stable of Kindle-compatible devices and also taking the opportunity to remind us that it’s working hard on Mac and iPad versions of its software. The app is a freebie download for Americans (sadly it’s not international just yet) and should offer the same functionality as its PC and iPhone brethren — namely automatic syncing via Whispersync and what Amazon hopes will be a seamless reading experience from one device to the next. Surprisingly as of late we’ve actually seen more official OS releases than leaks, but today we have an OS leak for both the Bold 9000 and Curve 8900. BerryMe has posted OS 5.0.0.464 for the Bold 9000 as well as 5.0.0.461 for the Curve 8900. Freshbooks is a new piece of software that lets you manage invoices, clients and track billing hours from your BlackBerry. The app is currently in beta, and you can download it now to try out for yourself.

Features include:

They may not let you actually drive the car James Bond-style, but it looks like there will be some apps for the iPhone and BlackBerry launching alongside the Chevy Volt, with apps for other devices apparently also a possibility. BlackBerry Messenger: it’s the holy grail of the BlackBerry platform, and, for many, the only real reason why they don’t make the jump to another smartphone. Lackluster Gmail support has been a real pain point for BlackBerry users, and we’ve really been hoping that this new “Enhanced Gmail Plug-in” would solve all that. It’s out as of today, and we’ve certainly gotten some improvements, like support for archiving messages, marking spam and managing labels / stars.
