BlackBerry Bold 9800 slider

Posted by admin On May - 18 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

We’ve still got thousands of unanswered questions (well, maybe not thousands, but definitely dozens) about RIM’s upcoming BlackBerry 6 platform — and it’s starting to look like we might be answering those questions at retail by way of this Bold 9800 slider that’s been making the rounds lately. BGR claims that the handset is lining up for a mid- to late-June release on AT&T, with the carrier having placed a substantial million-plus unit order to lock it up as an exclusive for some undetermined length of time (much as Verizon has managed to do both with the Storm and the Storm2). We hate to point out the obvious, but from a PR perspective, June’s not the best month to be announcing and / or releasing anything that Read the rest of this entry »

BlackBerry slider pics, Bold?

Posted by admin On March - 4 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

What looked like a drizzle last night seems to be turning into a full on downpour. The folks over at BlackBerry Leaks have gotten themselves even more facetime with that mysterious BlackBerry slider device — and it looks a lot better than we thought. Right now the theories are flying about just exactly what kind of phone this is, with BBL suggesting it might be the next phone in the Storm family, while Kevin over at CrackBerry has it on good authority that this new handset will be Read the rest of this entry »

inPulse smartwatch for BlackBerry wrist-on

Posted by admin On January - 29 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

We managed to track down the guys from Canada’s Allerta and got to spend some time with a couple dummy models of the soon-to-be-released inPulse smartwatch for BlackBerry. Design-wise, it’s very attractive, with a brushed metal body and a leather band. As a bonus to early orderers, the first 1,000 sold will be custom-milled on a CNC router — ironically, it’ll actually be more cost-effective for them to do it that way while they build up production volume. In terms of functionality, it will Read the rest of this entry »

BlackBerry Storm2 hands-on and impressions

Posted by admin On November - 12 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

For a company with the most starched, buttoned-up roots of any major wireless manufacturer, RIM’s venture out of its enterprise comfort zone to the consumer space went amazingly smoothly thanks to the introduction of the original Pearl, a phone that’s still sold in a variety of colors, configurations, and carriers to this day. At some point, though, it became clear that the industry was moving toward touch — a space RIM had never dabbled in — and the trend gave birth to the Storm, a product that had obviously been rushed to market with countless software bugs and a dodgy SurePress concept that caused more problems than it solved. With prototypes floating around in the wild mere months after its predecessor’s release, RIM’s Read the rest of this entry »

BlackBerry 9700 reviewed extra early

What is it with BlackBerries and seemingly premature reviews? After the Onyx got manhandled ahead of schedule, it’s the turn of its close relative, the trackpad-equipped 9700, which has been annointed as successor to the Bold. Boy Genius Report spared few superlatives in their examination of the hardware, which praises the 9700 as “the most gorgeous BlackBerry on the planet” and involves a size and feel comparison against the Tour. Their conclusion was that the new handset draws all the Read the rest of this entry »

Chrome for the BlackBerry Storm 9530, 9500 and Curve 8900. Indeed, you can now wrap your phone in pure reflection. A bright mirrored surface may say to you “fabulous – I am looking good” or it may go another way entirely and conjure images of sweet chromed rims – either way, the Case-Mate Barely There Chrome gives you just what you want. This departure from the classic Barely There case covers the back and corners of your phone, Read the rest of this entry »

WhitePages Mobile for BlackBerry Smartphones

Being a BlackBerry user and abuser, I can admit that I find myself spending nearly zero time using a Phone Book. You know, those rather large books filled with names, numbers and (if you’re really lucky) listings and menus of restaurants. Now, when I say “zero time”, I mean when my BlackBerry device is charging or if someone else is at the computer, so pretty much almost never. I’m sure I’m not alone when I think that they’re becoming nearly obsolete, especially when everything you ever wanted to know about anything is so readily available. Isn’t it much easier to keep a BlackBerry device in your pocket rather than a phonebook?

Aliph Jawbone PRIME Bluetooth Headset

jawbome-prime-bluetooth-headset

For years now I’ve been a big fan of the Aliph ‘Jawbone’ series Bluetooth headset. Not only for its stunning design, but for the quality product and sound clarity. Naturally, when Kevin asked me if I would like to do a review of the brand-new Jawbone PRIME, I was all over it like nobody’s business. In my review I’ll step you through the product and provide you with a few good pictures of the new device… and by the end you may even be convinced to pick one up (you won’t regret it – this is my favorite headset to date).

Side note: I’m not going to bore you with all of the initial setup instructions, how to pair the device with your BlackBerry etc… Lets face it, we all know how to do that, and if you don’t, I’m happy to report that both headsets here come with very clear instructions on how to do so. Let’s get down to it!

BlackBerry Onyx Review – First Impressions

The First ‘No Compromise’ BlackBerry Smartphone…

Pre-release review time! Rumors of the BlackBerry device model with the codename “Onyx” have been floating around for a while now and were proven legit when the first photos of it surfaced here at CrackBerry back on May 10th. After going hands-on with the Onyx, I think it’s safe to say THIS IS the traditional (no touchscreen) BlackBerry smartphone so many of us have been waiting for. It always seems that every new BlackBerry smartphone makes a compromise somewhere on its specifications and feature sheet – be it the Bold’s camera, or the Curve 8900’s lack of 3G, or the Tour 9630’s lack of WiFi, or the Storm’s lack of memory and snappy OS.
