BlackBerry OS 6.0 leaked?

Posted by admin On March - 19 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

Are these grabs from RIM’s refreshed BlackBerry OS 6.0 or just fanart from some sleepy design school student meant to trick the tech press? We don’t know, but BBLeaks claims that they come “highly regarded as real from one of our best connects.” But before getting too worked up, it’s worth noting the bizarre similarities between these grabs (San Francisco, the weather widget colors, Haiti tweet, and font) and the slide pulled from that “Super Apps” developer webinar back in Read the rest of this entry »

Surprisingly as of late we’ve actually seen more official OS releases than leaks, but today we have an OS leak for both the Bold 9000 and Curve 8900. BerryMe has posted OS 5.0.0.464 for the Bold 9000 as well as 5.0.0.461 for the Curve 8900. If you’re having a slow Friday, give these a go and let us know what you find out. No word of the good or bad, so drop a comment if you install on or the other. As these aren’t official OS’, use caution when upgrading your device. Hit the links below to Read the rest of this entry »

500100

Wanting to give OS 5.0 for the BlackBerry Bold or Curve 8900 another go? The last we posted in the blogs on OS 5.0 it was version 5.0.0.93 that was available, but now 5.0.0.100 has popped up in the wild for these same devices. CrackBerry junkies may want to give this newer version a download and install (download for Boldfor Curve 8900, but keep in mind that many of your existing apps may not yet work properly with this newer OS (BlackBerry JDE 5.0 is now available to developers, so the apps should catch up with the OS quick). Seems a lot of carriers are getting faster with their official updates these days. Ok, well maybe not a lot, but some are getting out more and more updates that are actually closer in version numbers to the previously leaked versions. This time around Hutchinson has launched 4.6.1.231 for the BlackBerry Curve 8900. With this being an official update you may want to have a look and see what it has to offer.

BlackBerry Storm 9530 OS 4.7.0.141 Fails VZW Testing?!

This really shouldn’t come as a surprise to any Storm owners out there who visit the Storm OS discussion forum but it does need a blog post mention. BGR has posted information on what was supposed to be “next official OS” for the Verizon BlackBerry Storm. OS 4.7.0.141 was destined to be delivered to Storm owners but at this point has apparently yet again failed Big Red’s technical certification (it seems they’re being pickier than other 9530 carriers as we have seen newer OS releases get official from Bell and Telus).

Verizon drops OS .141 – next update may come with OS 5.0

vzw-blackberry-storm1

The Verizon BlackBerry Storm OS .141 update that we saw last month has been dropped. Apparently, the OS software has failed Verizon Wireless’ quality assurance tests. It’s not obvious how RIM or Verizon will proceed, but they’re going to have to do something fast because BlackBerry Storm owners are still several updates away form having a smooth functioning device.
